1. Role Overview
The primary role of a Sales Representative is to generate leads, convert those leads into new customers, and secure handovers by selling services to both new and existing clients. This includes building strong relationships, understanding customer needs, and delivering a positive and professional customer experience.
The position includes nurturing and closing sales, (telesales), and account management responsibilities.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Sales and Revenue Generation
• Achieve individual and team sales targets set by the organisation.
• Identify, engage, and qualify new prospects through active lead generation.
• Convert leads into new customers and generate ongoing handovers.
• Develop and apply sales strategies to maximise revenue and growth.
B. Customer Relationship Management
• Build and maintain long-term, trust-based relationships with clients.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for client questions, concerns, and account management needs.
• Conduct regular follow-ups with past customers to ensure repeat business and identify cross-selling or up-selling opportunities.
C. Product Knowledge and Education
• Maintain a deep understanding of all company services, their features, and value propositions.
• Present and communicate service benefits accurately and confidently.
• Keep updated on industry trends, competitor activity, and market shifts to strengthen positioning and sales conversations.
D. Sales Planning and Reporting
• Create and execute a personal sales plan with clear objectives and timelines.
• Submit weekly and monthly sales reports including performance updates, pipeline health, lead status, and forecasted sales.
• Regularly evaluate progress toward KPIs and adjust sales strategies when needed.
E. Performance Tracking and Continuous Improvement
• Track key sales metrics (e.g., calls made, meetings booked, sales closed, new customers added).
• Seek feedback from managers and team members to improve performance.
• Participate in ongoing coaching, sales training, and development workshops.
F. Administrative & Compliance Responsibilities
• Complete all sales documentation accurately and timeously, including:
o Contracts packs
o Reconciliations
o Age analyses
o Query management
o Status reports
• Update CRM with all interactions, leads, follow-ups, and pipeline activities.
• Ensure sales processes are followed and compliant with regulatory requirements (e.g., POPIA).
G. Collaboration & Cross-functional Support
• Work closely with finance, legal, operations, and customer support to ensure a seamless service experience.
• Provide feedback to management regarding market needs, customer concerns, or process improvements.
• Support team members by sharing insights, knowledge, and best practices.
